Your Website’s First Connection Matters

We’re also adding Marseille to our Anycast DNS network. DNS is the address lookup that helps a browser find your website. Anycast means the same DNS address is answered from several locations, and each request goes to the nearest one. The new location gives that network another place to answer, which can shorten the lookup path for networks routed through Marseille.

This is separate from where your website is hosted. A DNS lookup answered in Marseille doesn’t move your website’s files or database there. It helps visitors find the site rather than storing a new copy of it. Anycast DNS is included on the shared web hosting plans, so this part of the launch reaches you even if you never order a server.
